Purpose of the fund shall be to provide scholarship(s) to recipient(s) pursuing a degree program of their choice with a goal to create and promote multi-cultural partnerships which strengthen the international ranching industry. Students may apply during their senior year of high school or international equivalent or while enrolled at an accredited college or university. Criteria shall include academic achievement, financial need, American Quarter Horse involvement, leadership and communication skills and/or school and community activities. Recipient must be a current member of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association and/or American Quarter Horse Association; Preference will be given to members from Mexico; Preference will be given to students who demonstrate qualities gained through their ranching involvement; Preference will be given to members wishing to advance the ranching industry of Mexico; Seeking recipient who desires to improve or advance their personal and professional communities utilizing acquired leadership experience; Seeking recipient committed to repay the kindness that was bestowed upon them by supporting future opportunities for educational advancement and/or scholarships; Current or previous recipients are not eligible to reapply for this scholarship.
Distribution goal based upon $100,000 endowment value: ·$4,500 four-year scholarship for undergraduate students (payable $1,125 per year, $562.50 per semester) or; ·$4,500 two-year scholarship for graduate students (payable $2,250 per year, $1,125 per semester) Scholarship amount will vary based upon 5- year accumulation period described per spending policy.

Selection Criteria:
Recipient(s) will be chosen by a selection committee or taskforce as determined by the Foundation Council with ultimate approval by the Foundation Board of Trustees. Late or incomplete applications are not eligible for consideration.
Selection Process:
Recipient(s) must maintain full-time college enrollment and achieve on an annual basis a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
Renewal Requirements:
Scholarship payments may be awarded for college undergraduate or graduate level coursework completed by the recipient(s). Payments will be made directly to an accredited college or university located in the United States and disbursed on a semester-by-semester basis.
Disbursements:
The application period will open October 1, 2023. Online applications are due January 15, 2024. Recipients of the 2024 Las Tunas International Ranching Scholarship will be notified by June 1, 2024.
